Affiliate Link Checker

A site-wide affiliate link checker. Enter your site and it finds every Amazon, ShareASale, CJ, Impact and Awin link, flags a missing tag, a tag that is not yours, a short link, a missing rel and the wrong marketplace, and checks where each link resolves. Read the report, export it as CSV, and let scheduled re-checks email you when a new problem appears.

Check every affiliate link on your site

Checks tags and links. Does not check stock.

How it works

Three steps: add the site you control, prove it is yours, then run a crawl and read the report. Nothing is installed on your site, no theme file is edited, and no password changes hands.

  1. 1. Add the site. Enter the address of a site you control in the dashboard. That address is the one that gets crawled, and it stays the site of record for every run after that.
  2. 2. Prove you own it. Publish one of three things: a meta tag in the page head, a text file at the site root, or a DNS TXT record. The dashboard gives you the exact value to publish. Until one of them is found, verification is the only request made to your host.
  3. 3. Run the crawl and read the report. The crawl reads robots.txt, follows the sitemap, fetches the pages it lists and classifies every affiliate link on them. The report groups the links by network and by issue, and the CSV export holds the same rows.

What one row shows

One row per affiliate link. A row names the page the link sits on, the link as it was written, the network that matched it and the affiliate tag it carries. Then the problems, each named the way the report names it:

  • missing tag. The network owns the link, and no affiliate id is in it.
  • not your tag. The link carries an id, and it is not one of yours. The tag it found is printed beside the issue.
  • short link. An Amazon short link hides its tag and its marketplace behind the redirect, so the row says to check it after the redirect is followed.
  • missing rel. The anchor has no rel=sponsored or nofollow attribute.
  • wrong marketplace. An Amazon link points at a marketplace other than your default.

The last column is the outcome: whether the link resolves at the address its redirects end on, and when it does not, why. That is a status of the link rather than of the page you land on, so not found, gone, a redirect loop, too many redirects, a timeout and a network block are told apart.

Networks it reads

Amazon in any of its marketplaces, including the short amzn.to and amzn.eu links, plus ShareASale, CJ Affiliate, Impact, Awin and Rakuten Advertising. A link marked rel=sponsored is checked even when none of those networks owns it.

Amazon links also carry a marketplace, read from the host. Point a link at a marketplace other than the one you set for the site and the row says so, so a page written for one storefront does not quietly send readers to another.

Scheduled re-checks and the email

A verified site can be re-checked without you asking: Pro once a week and Business once a day. The cadence is read from the same plan limits the scheduler applies before it queues any work.

The report email is about new problems only. A scheduled crawl sends it when it finds a problem the previous crawl did not, and sends nothing when the findings are the same as last time, so a quiet site keeps a quiet inbox.

Every checked link exports as CSV on Pro and Business: the page, the link, the network, the tag, the issues and the outcome, one row per link, with the same issue strings the report filters by.

Crawler conduct

The crawler obeys robots.txt: it reads the rules for the AffiliateLinkCheckerBot token, drops any URL the file disallows, and honors a Crawl-delay directive so a site can slow it down. It makes one request at a time per host and never runs two crawls of the same host at once, across every account.

Following a link through its redirects is paced at one request per second per host. A crawl waits between requests to the same host as well, which makes a large site take longer and is how the crawler stays polite.

Every request identifies itself as AffiliateLinkCheckerBot, with a link back to this site in the user agent string. The /bot page has the full string, the retry and backoff behaviour, and the one line of robots.txt that blocks the crawler.

Plans

The one-page check is free and needs no account. Give it a URL and it reports the same columns a crawl does for the links on that page.

  • Free costs $0 and covers a one-page check of any URL, 5 checks a day per IP address and up to 200 affiliate links resolved on that page.
  • Pro costs $9 a month and covers one verified site, crawls up to 2,000 pages, a weekly crawl, the email report when a crawl finds a problem the previous one did not, CSV export and 90 days of crawl history.
  • Business costs $29 a month and covers 5 verified sites, crawls up to 20,000 pages, a daily crawl, the email report when a crawl finds a problem the previous one did not, CSV export, 365 days of crawl history and the REST API.

Free checks one page at a time and crawls no site. The crawl, the schedule, the email report and the CSV export start with Pro. The pricing page sets every plan side by side.
