ShareASale Link Checker
Check the ShareASale links on a site you control: the id in u=, rel and where each link resolves.
How a ShareASale link is built
A ShareASale link points at shareasale.com/r.cfm and carries its affiliate id in the u= query value. That is the value a click credits and the one the checker reads.
A shareasale.com href on another path is not a ShareASale redirect, so it is not counted.
How it works
Four steps from a site to its ShareASale links:
- Add the site in the dashboard. That address is the one crawled.
- Prove the site is yours with a meta tag in the home page head, a file at the site root, or a DNS TXT record. Until then, the verification check is the only request to the host.
- Run the crawl. It reads robots.txt and the sitemap, then fetches the listed pages one at a time, waiting between requests to the same host.
- Read the report or the CSV.
What the report shows for a ShareASale link
A link with no u= value is reported as missing tag. A u= value that is not one of the ids saved for the site is reported as not your tag (the id it found).
A link with neither rel=sponsored nor rel=nofollow is reported as missing rel=sponsored or nofollow.
The outcome column says ok when the link answers, and otherwise names the reason, such as a 404, a redirect loop or a timeout.
What it does not do
It checks tags and links. It does not check stock, it does not report earnings or commission, and it never reads an Amazon product page.
The crawl reads the static HTML your server sends and does not run JavaScript, so a link built in the browser is invisible to it. A page that will not serve to a stranger is named as failed.
Plans
Free covers a one-page check of any URL, 5 checks a day per IP address and up to 200 affiliate links on that page. Pro is $9 a month for one verified site, crawls of up to 2,000 pages, a weekly crawl and the CSV export. Business is $29 a month for 5 verified sites, crawls of up to 20,000 pages, a daily crawl, the CSV export and the REST API.
Start with the free one-page check, or sign up and crawl one site.
ShareASale link questions
Which ShareASale links are recognised?
A shareasale.com link on /r.cfm. The u= value is the affiliate id. Another path counts only when it is marked rel=sponsored.
What if a link has no u= value?
It is reported as missing tag. The checker reads the href, so it can say the id is absent without asking ShareASale.
Does it report clicks or sales?
No. It reports the link, the id, rel and the HTTP outcome, and it does not connect to a ShareASale account.
